Hometown Harpies Beat Banchory Bangers
Local crowds were gratified by a hometown win this week in Holyhead as the Harpies took down the visiting team from Banchory. Harpies’ Chaser Septima Lupin opened the first hour strong with 4 goals in the first hour, answered by only two from the Bangers. In the second hour the Harpies really took the lead with ten more quaffles through the hoops, most of those provided by Luna Abbott. The keepers for both teams were really on top of their games, with the block percentage for the match at 50% for the Harpies and 60% for the Bangers. In the 3rd hour the Harpies kept the heat on with 19 more attempted goals, 10 of which succeeded. But the 4th hour saw their energy flag a bit, with Lynch only attempting a single goal, and the Bangers were able to come back a bit. The Harpies recovered nicely in hour 5 however, as Abbott scored another 6 goals, setting the stage for a clean victory when Harpies’ Seeker, Ariana Dawlish caught the snitch just as the 7th hour of the match began, sending the Bangers back to Scotland with an “L” for their first game of the season.
